Webbs March Gardening Job List

March makes the return of Spring, we can begin to see daffodils around, the nights start getting lighter and the clocks go forward. With the change in weather brings lots of jobs to do as everything begins to grow. We can now also use this time to be preparing seed beds, sowing seeds, cutting back winter shrubs and general tidying up of the garden.


Webbs Grounds team have compiled their list of the top jobs to do in the garden this month:
 

  • Protect your new Spring shoots from slugs

  • Plant shallots, onions and early potatoes 

  • Lift and divide overgrown clumps of perennials

  • Top dress containers with fresh compost

  • Mow the lawn on dry days (only do this if it is needed)

  • Cut back Cornus and Salix grown for colourful winter stems

  • How and mulch weeds to keep them under control early

  • Start feeding fish using pond fountain and remove pond heaters

  • Prune all bushes and climbing roses
