How to make a raised vegetable bed in 3 easy steps

Grow fresh fruit and vegetables in your own raised bed, following this simple guide.

1. Assembling a raised bed from one of our kits is one of the quickest ways to get an instant veg patch and provide extra root depth for crops. All you need is a sunny spot and a screwdriver.

2. Raised beds can be built into an established flowerbed, or you can dig a space in the lawn. If weeds are a problem lay a ground mat (called a weed –suppressing membrane) at the bottom.

3. Fill the bed with soil, either from the garden (and enriched with compost or fertiliser) or buy a mix of topsoil and compost. You’re now ready to plant – either seeds straight into the soil or small veg plug plants.
