We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Butchery Manager to join our Butchery team at our Wychbold garden Centre.
 
Reporting to the Group Food & Beverage Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the butchery provision and team. The role involves:
Working as part of the team in a hands-on capacity to prepare and cut meat and poultry.
Leading and managing a small team responsible. Delegating tasks effectively, providing training on butchery and ensuring that high standards of customer service are upheld. Motivating the team and managing their schedules, ensuring adequate coverage in the department.
Working with the Kitchen team to maximise production of ‘ready to eat lines’.
Monitoring sales and margin performance and taking action to ensure targets are met.
Maximising opportunities for merchandising, production and supply of products in our Food Hall and Restaurants.
Creating inspiring, innovative, seasonally changing displays.
Ensuring self-serve displays in chillers are attractive and shoppable.
Working with the kitchen and management teams to keep on top of food trends.
Proactively sharing product information with the team and with customers.
Manage rotas in line with wage budget.
Fulfilling all trade standards legislation.
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene.
Ensuring equipment and tasks are risk assessed and that training and supervision procedures are followed.
Working in collaboration with colleagues across the wider Webbs teams.
Participating in stocktakes, meetings and training as required.
 
The successful candidate will have:
Previous butchery experience.
Be credible and confident in their butchery knowledge ideally supported by a relevant qualification such as Butchery Level 2 and trained/willing to train to at least Food Hygiene Level 3.
Retail sales experience.
A passion for delivering a great customer experience.
Experience of visual merchandising and have a flare for creating dramatic and interesting displays.
Experience of leading, managing and motivating the team, ensuring that they exercise their responsibilities in full. 
High quality standards and an eye for detail.
Exceptional IT and organisational skills.

This is a full time and permanent position, working on average 40 hours per week on a 2 week rota. This involves working 4 weekdays plus every alternate weekend (you would work 4 days one week and have one weekday plus the weekend off, then you work 6 days the following week, including both weekend days).  It will include working some early mornings and evenings. Exact start and finish times will vary slightly to coincide with store closing times through the year.
 
The role is based at our store in Wychbold and so you must live within a reasonable commuting distance.
