The role involves working within an established team; outdoor plants, merchandising plants, stoneware and compost.  Duties include:
  • Plant care and maintenance which includes monitoring plant health, watering, feeding, pruning and implementing seasonal care practices to ensure plant health throughout the year.
  • Ensuring areas are stocked with a good variety of plants, stoneware and compost to meet customer demands and displays enhance visual appeal and promote seasonal products.
  • Assisting customers with advice on plant and stoneware selection, care, and placement, offering expert horticultural knowledge.
  • Handling customer enquiries and complaints, providing a friendly and professional service. Promoting special offers, seasonal plants, and related garden products.
  • Ensuring areas are safe for both staff and customers. Keeping walkways clear and ensuring that displays are stable and accessible.
You’ll work closely with team members and department managers to ensure consistently high retail standards, displays and customer service are delivered.
 
This role requires a combination of horticultural knowledge, and customer service abilities, all focused on ensuring the plant section thrives as a key part of the garden centre’s overall offering.
 
The successful candidate must have:
  • Garden centre experience, including retail selling skills and a have passion for horticulture.
  • Be credible and confident in their plant knowledge, ideally supported by a relevant qualification such as RHS 2/3 or equivalent.
  • Experience of visual merchandising and have a flare for creating dramatic and interesting plant displays.
  • High quality standards and an eye for detail.
 
This is an outdoor, physical role, so experience of working outdoors in all weathers and manual handling is essential.
 
This is a fixed term role working 37.5 hours per week until end of September 2025.  Working days will be 5 days out of 7 which will include alternate weekends.
 
The role is based at our store in Wychbold and so you must live within a reasonable commuting distance.
