  • The plants produce deep red flowers that are followed by masses of winged pods, which are ready for harvest when approx. 2.5cm (1") long.

What you need to know:
  • 1 x Mr Fothergills Asparagus Pea Seeds
  • Harvest: May to June
  • Outdoors Sowing Guide: Sow outdoors thinly where they are to crop, 2.5cm (1") deep directly into finely prepared soil which has already been watered. Delay sowing if soil is still cold. Allow 45cm (18") between rows. Seedlings usually appear in 7-21 days. Thin seedlings to 30cm (12") apart. Water well until plants are established. Two or three sowings will provide a successional crop. Provide cloche protection or delay sowing if soil is cold.
  • Soil Type: Fertile soil
  • Hints & Tips: Pick regularly to encourage further pods to form. Top and tail pods then boil or steam.
