- It forms a clump of dense, evergreen grey-green leaves and the open flower heads are held high above the foliage
- The bristly spikelets are oat-like in appearance and gently dry to a stunning straw colour
- This makes a great specimen plant grown in isolation but it also looks stunning when planted along the edge of a path where it will soften the hard surface, adding movement with the slightest breath of wind
